No one wants to talk about domestic violence. The mention of this topic is an automatic signal that physical violence is the antagonist. But domestic “violence” manifests in various ways; physical, verbal, emotional, isolation, sexual, to name a few. Although behavior is learned, unhealthy additives change the focus of what could be or once was a healthy relationship. It is unlikely that a photographer can capture the behavior when domestic crimes are committed or witness the abuse. Only the victim and the abuser are the participants. If there are children, they most likely will have already seen the abuse. Victims of domestic violence have various emotions. Fear of their spouse or partner, fear of community or family gossip, and fear of financial instability are some reasons why domestic violence is a silent killer. The desire to be free of physical and emotional pain is unbearable. Unfortunately, these feelings often lead to murder or suicide. In the eye of the beholder, as opposed to victims, domestic violence is a silent crime. (https://www.cincinnati.com/story/opinion/2014/10/11/opinion-domestic-violence-silent-crime/17028839/).
